Nature Journaling

Nature Journaling is an excellent way to slow down in nature and connect with your surroundings in a deeper way. Especially great for those un-able or un-wanting to participate in more strenuous outdoor activities, nature journaling provides a great option to connect to nature at a more accessible speed. We will learn to document our surroundings in many different ways, focusing more on the benefits of nature journaling over the quality of our work. Sitting on the ground is common, but bringing chairs or working at picnic tables is a great option too.

Nature journaling is great for anyone able to hold a pencil, read and write. We will run this program for ages 8+. We recommend this program for 1 to 15 people, but can run the program for up to 30 people at a time. If participants are children, we require one adult for every 5 children be present.

We can run this program from 45 minutes up to 2 hours.

Pricing for this program depends on multiple factors: location, number of participants, amount of time, and if we are providing materials (journals, pencils, colored pencil, etc.)

General Backcountry Preparedness

Think nuts and bolts of camping. We'll go through the 10 essentials with some of our favorite recommendations and walk through the Leave No Trace Principles. We'll walk through the different preparation necessary for hiking, climbing 14ers, camping, backpacking, and through hiking. You'll leave feeling more confident for your next backcountry experience!

Then, we'll have plenty of time to create. A photo shoot is encouraged at the end!

We will start with a handful of practice exercises before spending time working on the main piece of writing. We will share our work and provide constructive feedback with one another. Forest Bathing

Forest Bathing began in Japan as a practice of spending time in nature slowly, immersing all of your senses. Our version of Forest Bathing is quite similar, slowly meandering through the forest, focusing on one sense at a time. Giving yourself permission to slow down and appreciate the tiniest details around you. This practice is scientifically proven to reduce stress and even prevent serious diseases. The practice finishes with tea (taste) made from materials from the land, currently in season.
